Description

This exceptional microlot of coffee comes from smallholder farmers in the mountains of Jinotega, Nicaragua, the country’s most famed coffee-growing region. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, but it is exceedingly rich in its biodiversity, culture, and the spirit of its people. This beautiful coffee showcases the hard work and hope of an often-overlooked coffee region.

The coffee is grown by families who grow coffee under the shade of native rainforests, often cultivating rare and unique coffee varietals. We worked with the  Gold Mountain Coffee Growers, an experienced social enterprise with over a decade of working in this region, to secure this lot. Gold Mountain provides training, education, and financing to ensure each family produces the highest quality coffee possible. In turn, they are able to pay these families well above local market prices for their coffee. It’s a win-win for coffee growers and coffee drinkers!

These beans will change the way you think about Nicaraguan coffee. In the cup it is rich, full-bodied, and very sweet, with notes of mulled apple cider, honey, and baking spices. It’s the perfect coffee for cold winter mornings!
